Meet the Team...
Updated: Mar 9, 2019
We thought it might be fun to show you who it is that makes your Garden Labels. We've got a great team helping us out here, and we're proud of the work they do!
We (Steve & Terri) purchased the business in 2006. Since then, we have worked together every day, enlisting the help of our children during their high school and college years. This truly is a family venture! Steve handles production & shipping, while Terri handles the paperwork end of things. We’ve been married for almost 32 years, and running this business as a team has been a blessing to our marriage.
On this cold and snowy morning in Paw Paw, Michigan, Michelle and Hannah are here in the shop. They help produce many of the labels you purchase. Today they’re working on Cap Style Labels, bending the nameplates onto the wires, using the press to crimp the nameplates on, and banding the labels in bundles of 25. Later this week, the labels they’re making will be loaded onto a truck to head to a customer in New York.
Melissa, our sister-in-law, works in the office during most of the year, processing orders and handling the phones with Terri. During our slower season, though, Melissa also helps in the shop. Today she is producing Rose Style Labels to help build our inventory, so when you place your order, the labels are ready to ship.
The shop is a fun place to be. There’s always music playing…anything from Disney show tunes to Country to Oldies. At the moment we’re listening to Chim-chimeney from Mary Poppins. Sometimes you can even hear an employee or two singing along (we’ve got some talented people here!) There’s always laughter, and we especially enjoy celebrating each other’s birthdays with doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, or some other tasty treat.
These two affectionately call each other "big buddy" and "little buddy". I bet you can't figure out which is which!
Matt is our right-hand man. He’s been with us for about 7 years and knows how to do it all. He picks the orders each day, then works wherever he’s needed. He can run all the machines, and we depend on him to keep things going when we’re gone.
Will, is the one who packs your orders. He also helps with producing labels and fixing things around the shop. He’s our resident handy man. He’s also quite the jokester and keeps us all laughing.
Jake and Michelle (our daughter) also work in the shop part-time. Both are college students working for us when they’re not in class. We love that we can offer them flexible hours, working around their classes each semester and letting them focus on finishing their schooling.
There you have it…the awesome team that works together to produce the best garden labels around. Stop in to see us if you’re ever in Southwest Michigan. We’d love to see you in person!
Happy Gardening from your friends at
